Nobody was saying
Andy, no way was i calling you or anyone a freak at all. Just saying that the RMC probably regaurds all GB3EL users as weirdys. After all it is an odd repeater.

GB3EL
The reply that I received from the RMC representative was polite, but it did not answer my question, which was “Is the repeater's poor performance deliberate, or is it due to a fault.”
The wording of the reply I received implied to me (although I may be wrong) that the repeater has developed a fault, and that although the keeper knows about this, he isn't going to do anything about it.
The keeper's job is quite unenviable really. If he fixes the repeater and restores it to full service then it will likely be
abused by snotgobbling jammers and CBers, and he will get a load of hassle from Ofcom, for breaking the conditions of his NOV, but if he switches the repeater off he will then be hassled by the RMC, who will urge him to restore it back to service again!
In this case, leaving the repeater running, but faulty and unusable may seem like the best option for the keeper.
I have observed that the aforementioned snotgobbling Cbers and jammers are currently infesting GB3NL, most evenings after EL closes down at six o'clock.

Thanks for letting us know
What you have to bear in mind is that the repeater keeper is not obliged to keep the repeater running at its max potential. He just has a NOV and clearance for his box. As long as it is complicant with emc and rfi regs he is in the clear. I have had my radios in boxes and my aerials down for two weeks now. So i take it that EL is as bad as ever ? I will be back on at the weekend.

GB3EL shown as not being a green status box
I have just had a look at the RSGB's repeater website and GB3EL is flagged in yellow. Which means it is not of green status. There is nothing mentioned about the reduced performance, only the curfew. There is no point in a curfew in the first place if you just cant get in to start with.

The repeater seems to be off the air now, and there is a high probability that it will stay off until it's D-Star replacement can be installed.
Unless anyone knows better?

Its not in the vetting stage yet
There is at yet no application for GB3EL to go digital. I have been looking at the uk repeater net via the RSGB. It would be in the vetting section if it were to go digital in the very near future. But i think that they want it to go digital anyway in the end.
